We stayed in a number of lodgings, B&Bs, hotels, guest rooms, on a recent trip to the British Isles. Tullyarvan Mill Hostel as well. It was the greatest value of any location where we lived, and we also got to know the best of our fellow travelers. The shared kitchen was an ideal place for assembly! One thing: don’t rely on your GPS to find the mill, because you’re going to be guided (if your GPS is the same as ours) across the river to a spot on the lane. Follow their directions on the website instead.
Do you have any offer in November 2020?

Hi I recently went on Holidays in Donegal and stayed with Tullyarvan Mill Hostel. On arrival I was greeted by a Friendly member of Staff. For me it was Ideal location very close to the beaches and the town of Buncranna. The Hostel had its own Kitchen to cook my own meals and very clean also the room and showers were. Great value for me as on a budget Holiday and I really good Holidays. Thank you making my stay a happy one!!

Stayed 2 nights in 14 bed dorm, only 3 people both nights which was excellent, is a bit institutional looking and if full would be very very busy especially for bathroom facilities.
Excellent kitchen with everything you need to self cater, easy check in though a key deposit is irritating.

I really like this hostel. Yes, the male dorm is big, but rarely full. Wifi strong, and great, fully fitted kitchen. Staff not always at hand, but helpful once available. Toilets and showers very clean. Short, pleasant walk into town. Not a party hostel, with many families. That’s fine, given the beauty of the surrounding countryside. Each person gets a key to dorm, and free key to bedside locker. Bring own towels. 24 hour access via door keypad. If arriving late, ring ahead.

I recommend this hostel for the adventurous family and traveller. I found it looking for accommodation near or on Malin Head on a busy bank holiday weekend and what a gem. Clean, safe, fresh bed linen (pillow cases, sheets and duvets on bunk beds).
For €342, 10 of us have taken 2 * 6 bunk bed rooms for 3 nights (Friday – Monday) and have cooked our own breakfasts and dinners (massive feasts from local well stocked Supervalu), saved a ton and have had a blast chatting with Germans, Irish, British, Belgian and French fellow tourists. I have really enjoyed hearing all these wonderful young people, their stories, their laughter and joie de vie.
Tulkyarvan is actually a community center – an Irish (Gaelic speaking school) with a hostel. I suppose we came when school was out so I cannot speak to school time hosteling but I can really recommend based upon our experience.
Wonderful staff, good people staying here, you’ll love the conversations you shall have in a large community breakfast/dinner room … If you can get beyond the bunk bed as a B&B/hotel person, I can attest to 2 great nights of sleep so far!!!
The kitchen has tons of room – really 2 large rooms with huge fridges, cooking area and 2 sinks for cleanup.
Malin Head and the inishowen peninsula is sensational. Great walking and sights all along Ireland’s fabulous Wild Atlantic Way. Our troupe were 2 families, an 81 year old dad, an uncle, a 2 year old baby … no complaints.
Highly, highly recommended.

Eher günstige Familienunterkunft als Hostel. Große Küche, gemütliches Sitzen beim Essen, großzügige Zimmer. Einziges Manko: keine eigenen Lampen bei den Betten – entweder Licht an, oder Licht aus.
Rather cheap family accommodation as a hostel. Large kitchen, comfortable sitting at dinner, generous rooms. The only downside: no own lamps at the beds – either light on, or light off

Despite it;s proximity to Buncrana there was no interuptions due to traffic noise and we had disturbance free nights while there. The facilities were clean and sufficient for our needs . Great value .Only one concern is access to and from particulalry exiting from the hostel onto the public road , visibility is not very good.

We found it to be perfect for our needs; great location for exploring the inishowen peninsula, friendly and helpful staff, a well large, equipped kitchen/common area. We booked a twin ensuite room, which had a double bed and bunk bed, all of which was clean and we could control the heating ourselves. There were large lockers in the room, and adequate power points. Nothing too much trouble for them and happy at their work, you couldn’t help to smile back. Outsides beauty was enhanced with plants and greenery with not one stray leaf or one bit of rubbish in the car park. Internally the floors esp under the beds was shining not a pick of dust we are going back this year. Thanks You made our trip

This is a wonderful place for a stay! Bunk rooms very roomy. FULL SIZED lockers! Chargers by bunks. Very clean/nice ensuite shower/toilet/sink. Could use a bit more light at the sinks. Kitchen clean and well equipped. Roomy as well. Common room is part of the kitchen/eating area. Not much there, couch/tv. About a 15 minute walk into town. But a beautiful park/trail system on the way about 5 minutes out. Don’t expect much atmosphere. But if you need good/clean accommodations I highly recommend!

“Clean, Friendly and Excellent facilities”
5 of 5 stars
I stayed at Tullyarvan Mill for 2 weeks as i was caught between houses. I was unsure how long i would be so to save money i went for the hostel option. Having never stayed in a hostel before i was unsure what it would be like, expecting bare facilities and a basic bed for the evening. I was almost overwhelmed with what i got. I had booked a bed in a 6 bed dorm, the bed and dormitory itself was very clean and comfortable. An ensuite shower room and toilet was spotless. The shower itself was as good if not better than anywhere i have been before – hotels or home. A large kitchen facility with everything you need to cook, again spotless and a nice common area with tv and dining area. The one thing that really pleased me was the strength and quality of the wifi throughout the hostel. Perfect signal anywhere i went, with streaming netflix no problem at all. Staff were lovely and accommodating, with no intrusion. Close to the centre of town, only a 6 or 7 minute walk, the beach just round the corner and a lovely park just across the road its a must stop for anyone coming to the north-west of the country, and at only €15 a night, i couldnt of asked for more. Recommend to families and travellers alike.
A party of 17 from Skerries stayed last weekend for Cranafest 2015 , what a brilliant spot !!!!!, rooms are great, warm showers, clean comfortable beds, very clean and tidy. Kitchen was just perfect.
The Staff were just wonderful, very helpful, good people !!, highly recommend it for a stay in Buncrana, its only a 10 minute walk to the town center.

“Staff were FABULOUS, friendly, helpful, and informative! They gave us a tour of the historical part of the facility which was educational and wonderful, a map with trails marked on it for things to see in and around the town, helped introduce me to the local Garda when I asked questions about them (I work in a local law enforcement agency so was interested in Ireland’s equivalent) and even went the extra mile to get a hold of me when I left some of my belongings behind on accident when we left!”

Brilliant double room spotless!, great kitchen area. First time staying in a hostel in Ireland and it wont be the last. Great staff! great price! would stay again. Our first stop on our W.A.W. adventure.
Belfast, United Kingdom
Stayed 2 nights in 14 bed dorm, only 3 people both nights which was excellent, is a bit institutional looking and if full would be very very busy especially for bathroom facilities.
Excellent kitchen with everything you need to self cater, easy check in though a key deposit is irritating.

Lovely staff, big, quiet rooms, free towel. Not a money making scheme like some places, but a good honest hostel!

Arrived in the quiet times – but a nice welcome, a comfortable bed, a few nice people still staying, so some nice chat and then a quiet peaceful sleep. I took the double ensuite room and it was perfect as I was working the next day and had a lot of gear to stow in the room. Will be back.

Ottima struttura, spazi ampi, pulito, niente di particolare nel paesino ma vale sicuramente la pena fermarsi, consigliato

A very clean, well-equipped and friendly hostel. Just a short walk from the centre of Buncrana. There’s a lot to see and do in Inishowen, and Tullyarvan Mill Hostel is an ideal value-for-money alternative to overrated hotels and B&Bs. Thoroughly recommended.

It was a comfortable hostel, thought it was a bit like staying in a school, but still very good for a hostel. Clean comfortable, good location. I would stay there again if travelling that way.

Great place, well located even if the entrance is easily missed if you don’t pay enough attention. Staff was really nice, with lots of advice about the town. Beds are really comfortable but avoid the middle one if you can, it can be a bit complicated to get in and off

Had the pleasure of staying the bank holiday weekend fantastic facility. Spotlessly clean. Lovely staff who we met and spoke to on the phone. We will b back.

“Great value for money”
Couldn’t get a reservation at the near by hotel so found this hostel on the web it only cost 60 Euro a night for 4 kids 2 adults in private room very large room on suite the shower was very powerful free Wi-Fi in common room and double kitchen all mod cons a dining area and sitting area with TV lovely grounds outside. Loved our stay.
” This facility is in absolute apple pie order, with everything as clean and neat as can be. It’s a little far from town center – not too much in easy walking distance, but no problem as we had a car. The kitchen facilities were excellent and the staff helpful and friendly. I heartily recommend it. “
“Excellent Stay”
Had a great stay here. Excellent facilities, spotless, cheap and very comfy beds!!! Angela on reception was so friendly and helpful and booking was so straight forward. Little distance from the town centre but only €5 in a taxi and plenty of taxi numbers provided on arrival.Thank you for everything. Would highly recommend,

Had an awesome stay here. Two people in the 14 bed dorm!! Beds were super comfortable and kitchen was amazing. The staff member wasn’t the most helpful with local information, but wifi works well in kitchen (temperamental in dorm room) so you can work out all the tourist stuff with that. Plenty of car-parking.

A little bit hidden from Buncrana Town. But I really enjoyed my stay in Tullyarvan Mill Hostel. It's definitely first class. The beds are comfortable, the dorm is spacious, the kitchen and eating area is huge and has a television, and there is a really nice atmosphere there. And the staff are really friendly and helpful. This place is perfect.

Tullyarvan mill was a great location for us to stay . If you love Donegal and Inishowen then this is a great place to base yourself as everywhere is accessible. Despite it;s proximity to Buncrana there was no interuptions due to traffic noise and we had disturbance free nights while there. The facilities were clean and sufficient for our needs . Great value .Only one concern is access to and from particulalry exiting from the hostel onto the public road , visibility is not very good.

The hostel is pretty good, especially the kitchen is amazing. Everything is very clean and the room was big but it really seemed like it had been a hospital once which was not best for the atmosphere but we felt fine anyway. Will come back for exploring the north.

I stayed here with a friend for 5 nights during the quadrathon event. I would recommend hostel if travelling around Donegal.

This was a fantastic place to stay and we were just sorry we couldn’t stay longer. Our double/family room was airy, quiet and comfortable, the shower excellent. The kitchen had all mod cons. and the whole facility was very clean and secure. We enjoyed a riverside walk through the forest down to the beach with amazing views over the lough. The staff were amazing and went well beyond the basics to be helpful and friendly. Thoroughly recommended.

FABULOUS!! for my first stay at a hostel I wished i had tried it years ago. I’ve stayed in hotels all over and have never seen a happier bunch of staff.

Quite possibly the best of all the hostels I have visited. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting in the area. Just the incredibly clean kitchen alone is enough, but the rooms with heat, the hot showers, and the top-notch staff all combine to make this the level many other fail to even try for.

We visited the hostel on Friday evening and Devon was very good and could not do enough. The place was spotless and the rooms were warm, comfortable and spacious. Showers were fab and a special mention has to go to Angela for her help in organising the stay and helping us with the beds and the breakfast and a big thank you. If doing the wild Atlantic way then make sure you stop here, You wont be disappointed.

Lovely hostel, friendly staff, very quiet, clean and comfortable rooms, excellent facilities – probably the best equipped kitchen I’ve seen in any hostel. We had a private room, which was very spacious and even had a TV. Free wifi with good reception throughout the building.
The hostel is in a pretty central location for exploring Inishowen.
Highly recommended, would definitely go back.

Very new and clean…comfortable bed

We stayed here for 10 nights in a double room with ensuite overlooking the back garden – great spot to explore Innis however Peninsula from. All staff were welcoming and helpful in all interactions. It was better than some B&B’s for considerably less cost. Would recommend to anyone.

Beds are extremely comfortable. Kitchen is well equipped Overall the hostel was fantastic

My girlfriend and I stayed in a private room last week and were more than happy with our stay. The room was clean and the kitchen was stocked with a vast array of cooking implements! The best thing about Tullyarvan Mill by far were Michael and Angela who work there. They were friendly and constantly went out of their way to provide information and help with any problems we had with regards to getting around Buncrana and Donegal.
Overall, top class stay. Thanks to Michael and Angela, we’ll definitely stay again when we visit Buncrana!
This hostel was perfect. Clean, tidy and comfortable. Washing, drying and internet facilities available. Helpful staff. Clean kitchen and shared bathroom. Amazing value for money. Would fully recommend this hostel
